Imagine yourself standing in front of a microphone… in French.
Speaking another language is not just a skill — it’s an emotional experience.
You need courage.
You fear saying things wrong.
You worry about hurting someone, being misunderstood, or sounding “off.”
You watch people’s reactions. You feel exposed.
You’re stepping into a version of yourself expressed through a language that isn’t yours.
And yet… you try.
Last Thursday, the Women Speak French community lived one of those powerful moments where courage meets vulnerability.
A Conversation Café That Became Much More
During our usual weekly conversation café, something special happened.
A radio journalist joined us — not as an observer, but as a participant.
He sat in the middle of our group of women and took part in our topic of the day: taboos in France.
We laughed.
We shared.
We exchanged openly — entirely in French.
The atmosphere was warm and lively, the kind of space where mistakes don’t matter because connection matters more.
And then, at the end… he reached into his bag and took out a microphone.
“I Hate This… My French Disappears When I’m Stressed.”
One by one, the women were interviewed about their lives in France:
their challenges, their difficulties when they first arrived, their victories, and how learning French helped them unlock situations that once felt impossible.
We were in a noisy coffee shop, surrounded by chatter, clinking cups, and the hum of daily life.
It was far from an ideal recording studio — and yet, there they were, speaking in French in front of a stranger with a microphone.
One of them whispered to me:
“I hate this… when I’m stressed, my French disappears.”
And still… she did it.
She spoke.
She shared her story.
Her voice trembled — but it was hers.
I felt so proud I could have burst.
The Moment You Say: “This Is It.”
I wanted to share this moment with you because it represents something important:
That instant when you think:
“This is it.”
You take a breath.
You dare.
You jump — even if your heart is pounding.
And you feel supported, because within Women Speak French, the group is a safe place where women can take risks with confidence.
A space where you can try, fail, succeed, laugh, and grow.
Even with an outsider in the room… it worked.
Because confidence is built in community.
And You?
Have you ever had that moment where you thought:
“Okay, I’m doing it.”
Maybe with a neighbor?
At a village festival?
In your town?
At the market?
After a match?
That moment where you pushed yourself a little further than usual — and it felt like a victory?
Write me : I’d love to hear your story.
And if you haven’t yet found the space or support to dare speaking French with confidence…
I might not hand you a microphone,
but I can help you boost your French so that when your moment comes, you’ll say:
“Okay, I’m doing it.”
Book your virtual and let’s talk together.
A bientôt
